Our Pastor

Recently, St. Mark’s welcomed a new pastor, the Reverend Robert Grimm, and said goodbye to Pastor Johns, who served with us for 13 years and has retired.

Rev. Robert Grimm was appointed to serve St. Mark’s U.M.C. in the Long Island west district of the New York Annual Conference beginning September 1, 2011. Prior to his appointment at St. Mark’s he served for five years as associate pastor at the Hicksville U.M.C. in the Long Island east district.

Bob has been a Licensed Local Pastor since 2006. He completed the obligations for licensing and appointment at Drew University in Madison, NJ. Bob currently attends the Wesley Theological Seminary Course of Study in N.W. Washington, DC.

Bob was lay leader of the Babylon United Methodist church for fifteen years. Bob has also been active in training lay speakers in that district conference program. He held the position of secretary of the Long Island East District Committee on Ordained Ministry before declaring for the ministry and was on the district nominating committee and co-chaired the district committee on education for the Long Island East district prior to being appointed to St. Marks.

Bob is married to Susan Beardslee Grimm who is administrator for grants and volunteers at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY. In March 2011 they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Sue and Bob make their home in Babylon Village. They have three grown daughters, Shannon, Amy and Kelly, and two grand children, Sara and Liam.

Bob is excited to be serving the loving, community-centered church that is St. Mark’s. He looks forward to a fulfilling ministry in Rockville Centre.
