Typically, our children attend the beginning portion of the service. They are then invited to the front of the sanctuary for a short lesson and prayer with our Sunday School leader and then go downstairs for Sunday School classes. On the first Sunday of the month, the children return to their parents before the service ends so that they can join with their family for Communion. Otherwise, parents may pick up their children in the parlor during fellowship hour. Children who are not comfortable attending Sunday School classes are welcome to remain in the service with their parents. Our Sunday School teachers are warm and nurturing and we find that most of our children prefer to be with their peers in Sunday School.
Older children serve as acolytes and lectors during services, take part in our Christmas and Easter pageants, help unload pumpkins for our annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser, assist with younger children during Sunday School and serve as role models for their peers.
